Begin 2018 with New Strategies for Your Business

The new year for most companies means new goals for growth, profit, expenses, and strategies for tackling issues. While all of these things are critical for the company, it can be a good idea to think beyond the usual tasks. Since the new year and a fresh start are right around the corner, now is the perfect time to brainstorm some fresh ideas for growth, profit, and fun for the new year!

Below are a few ideas to help jumpstart your new year:

Revisit your mission statement. First off, do you have one? (Hopefully the answer is yes.) Does it need to be restated? Should you ask for input from team members or advisors?

Determine the two most important non-financial objectives that you want to achieve in 2018. Once selected, assemble a task force (sounds more purposeful and exiting than “team,” doesn’t it?) for each objective. These objectives can be anything from improved benefits and satisfaction to improved incentive plans and ways to increase morale.

Do you hold semi-annual and annual company meetings to review progress and goals? Is the entire company invited? Are you open to receiving input from all team members and modifying goals?

Does your company support a local non-profit? Do you encourage your team members to volunteer? Perhaps consider giving team members an extra PTO day or a half-day that can only be used for volunteer work.

Regardless of the objectives, it’s important to have fun, engage all of your team members, and keep an open mind when it comes to revising goals and creating new ones.

After all, as Max de Pree once said,
“We cannot become what we need to be by remaining what we are.”
